This Week’s Happenings at Muir
John Muir Fundraising Committee meets on Wednesday
The John Muir Fundraising Committee raises money for classroom projects, student activities, and campus improvements. They will meet this Wednesday at 2pm and all are welcome to attend.
Back To School Night on Thursday
Thursday is Back To School Night. We will have Chick-Fil-A available in the auditorium courtyard starting at 5:30 and all sales support our PE department. The English Language Advisory Council meeting will take place in room 604 at 5:30 and then classroom visits will take place from 6:30 to 8pm. We will send home a flyer on Wednesday where your child can fill in their schedule. Please bring that with you to Back To School Night.
Let’s Do Lunch for 6th Grade Families this Friday
This Friday, we will host Let’s Do Lunch for 6th grade families. We are required to scan each parent and visitors’ ID to check it with the Megan’s Law database. If you have not been scanned into our system at Muir this year and plan on attending Let’s Do Lunch, come into the office sometime tomorrow to have your ID scanned. If you are not scanned by 3pm Thursday, you will need to be scanned in at the gate and that will delay your ability to enter.
Early Dismissal on Friday and No School on Monday
We will have early dismissal on Friday with students released at 2pm and no school on Monday as we observe the Labor Day holiday.
Mindful Monday Minute
Every Monday our students do a Social-Emotional Learning activity in their Muir Time class. We encourage you to follow up with your student on what they discussed.
Check last week’s planner page with your child. Did they take the time to write down their homework or agenda in each class? Did they complete their assignments on time? The planner is a great way for families to know what is happening during the school day and an awesome tool to help students with their executive functioning. You may want to take this opportunity to talk to your student about this tool. A daily planner check is a great way to keep your student on track throughout the school year. Put a reminder on your phone to check their planner and their homework every evening. And, we also recommend you schedule a weekly reminder to check their grades on Aeries.
