Mindful Monday Minute
Every Monday our students do a Social-Emotional Learning activity in their Muir Time class.  We encourage you to follow up with your student on what they discussed.

Today your student listened to Celeste Headlee’s Ted Talk 10 ways to have a better conversation.   The talk outlined ways to improve conversations.  The ten tips are as follows:

  1. Don’t multitask
  2. Don’t pontificate (don’t just state your opinion)
  3. Use open-ended questions
  4. Go with the flow
  5. If you don’t know, say so
  6. Don’t equate your experience with theirs
  7. Try not to repeat yourself
  8. Stay out of the weeds (don’t get lost in details).
  9. Listen.
  10. Be brief

Share with your child ways that you feel that communication can be enhanced.  Share with your student the power of listening.
